TRADITIONAL CRAFT- A closer look at the traditional history of South African crafts, the value and function of practicing craft and the materials and techniques used.
Both ZenZulu and Zimele are South African design groups who focus on the development of communities through craft.
The traditional basket weaving techniques of the Zulu people can be seen in the ZenZulu hand woven bowls and vessels in various shapes and colours.
Like Zulu baskets their bowls are hand woven, but they are intended as decorative art works rather than as functional objects. They use wire instead of the traditional materials of the area, traditionally used by Zulu weavers. – Read more …

Traditional craft is is part of an indigenous cultural heritage. Examples of traditional craft in South African cultural groups are:
- Basketry – Zulu, N’debele
- Beadwork – Xhosa, Zulu or N’debele
- Pottery – Zulu
