Aims: To encourage the production of handmade quality goods as opposed to low quality, over fussy mass-produced products.

To re-establish the value and involvement of the skilled craftsman and designer. To encourage the design of simpler less decorative products. To create and make products using undecorated, natural materials (e.g. wood and stone). This was to reveal the natural beauty of the materials. To bring back social order, stability and good Christian values.

Influences: The Medieval Gothic style, a period associated with order, stability and good Christian values. This was represented in designs by the use of the pointed arch as well as the Quatrefoil and Trefoil motifs and included mythical themes such as dragons.
